A Newcomer’s Guide to Gardening in South Florida – No More Fear!
If you recently moved to South Florida from a northern state, you may have noticed that things are “just a tad bit” different down here.
While we love being so close to the tropics, growing plants in a place that seemingly hosts just about every bug known to man, only has two main seasons (i.e. “hot” and “hotter”), and sandy soil that absorbs water faster than a Shamwow, might present challenges even for an expert gardener.
Learn which types of plants thrive in this climate, how to improve your soil quality, plants that are ideal for sun/shade or a little bit of both, and some attractive alternatives to what you’re used to seeing up north. Conquer your fears and let’s do gardening the South Florida way! Class will be led by Nada Vergili.
Saturday, 11:00 am to 12:30 pm
- $10 for members; $18 for nonmembers
- Registration is required; class size is limited to 15 adults.
