Family Weekend

Mother’s Day Weekend is Family Weekend at the Garden

Saturday, May 8 – Family and Friends Day
9am to 3 pm (last entry at 2 pm)
Regular admission applies ($10 general; $5 ages 5-12; FREE for MBG Members)

We’re excited to partner with the Resource Depot for their Catwalk Student Fashion Show: MBG Runway Event! This year’s theme is “In the garden,” inspired by nature in the garden.

The Catwalk program involves students in grades K-12, who are given a “trashformation” challenge: construct wearable art made from a variety of traditional and non-traditional materials. Participating students are given access to Resource Depot’s treasure trove of reusable materials and participate in weekly workshops, where they learn the basics of using a sewing machine, construction techniques, and receive guidance on how to incorporate the materials they choose. Through the use of nontraditional materials, the students gain environmental consciousness while thinking outside of the “trash.” Come and be WOWED by what these students have created!

You’ll also be able to shop for gifts, cactus and succulents at the MBG Popup Shop in the Great Lawn, where the weather forecast calls for “SoFLo Snow” bubbles between 10 am and 1 pm at our giant, interactive Stickwork exhibition.

SoFlo Snow will drift in and around the Stickwork exhibit!
