Zimmerman Shade and Color Island
The planting compositions aim to answer the question asked at nurseries and plant shops every day, “How can I get color in the shade?” The plants selected provided color through foliage, diverse texture and flowers. Ferns, begonias and bromeliads are essential components to accomplishing the main goal of the garden. The majority of the island is planted for a small scale, appropriate for visitors to be able to reproduce at their homes. The Escofet Bench on the Island’s north side adds a structural element important to any garden design.
This island was dedicated in honor of the Zimmerman family (Zimmerman Tree Service), February 2011.
