Create a Fabric Covered Dream Journal
Create a beautiful, cherished keepsake that will allow you to record your dreams, memories, and aspirations! Embark on a journey, real or imagined, with your own extraordinary fabric covered journal. Participants will hand-paint watercolor paper for the pages, using a variety of design techniques, including stenciling, stamping, and painting. Fabric cover can be embellished with a variety of stamps, and a selection of threads, ribbons and other embellishments can be used to make each journal truly unique. Workshop will be led by artist, Andrea Huffman.
Necessary skills: Basic measuring, some manual dexterity for pushing a thick (blunt) needle through layers of paper.
Saturday, October 23rd
11:00 am to 2:00 pm
$35 for members; $45 for nonmembers
Registration is required; workshop is limited to 20 adults.
Optional Materials to Bring:
Apron, or other covering
Stencils or stamps
A favorite piece of fabric (approx. 9″ x 12″)
Other fabrics will be provided.
About Andrea Huffman
After attending the High School of Art and Design in New York City, Andrea Huffman moved to Florida, and received a Master’s Degree in Art Education from Florida International University. She taught art for thirty-one years in Broward County Public Schools and retired from full time teaching in 2011 to pursue her own art practice. Ms. Huffman has since exhibited locally and nationally in solo, juried and group shows. Receiving several awards for her work, including several Broward County Creative Investment Grants, Ms. Huffman was selected as one of only two Florida art educators for the first State Teachers Artist in Residence (STAR) program at the Hermitage Artist Retreat in Sarasota, awarded through the Florida Alliance for Arts Education in 2011. She continues to share her passion for art through new teaching opportunities, including The Boca Museum Art School, Bailey Contemporary Art in Pompano where is a resident studio artist, as well as various other guilds and art centers throughout Florida. Ms. Huffman is also a member of the Surface Design Association and a co-founder of 6 Hands Collaborative, creating, exhibiting, curating, and teaching art in collaboration with other artists.
