Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Bonsai or wanted to learn about the ancient art of Saikei?

Michael Spencer will discuss the difference between Bonsai and Saikei and teach you how to begin the process of creating your own Bonsai or mini Saikei forest.  Participants will be able to design their own starter plant and learn the basic tools needed for the maintenance of these miniature living treasures. Plant and Bonsai container will be provided. You may bring your own garden snips or small scissors; if you don’t have tools, small scissors will be provided.

Class fee: $35 for MBG Members; $40 for nonmembers
Registration is required; class size is limited to 24.

About Michael Spencer

Michael Spencer began his bonsai learning journey at the age of 11 and has always been interested in Japanese culture. He has a degree in Botany from Central Michigan University and has been a volunteer in the nursery, here at Mount’s Botanical Garden for five years.
