Join us for a fascinating hands-on workshop where we explore the complete art of terrarium design and creation. From moss, plants, stones, and hardscape elements to overall composition and design, we will guide you through every step of the process.

Participants will learn about drainage layers, filter media, soil blends, plant selection, and proper placement while creating a unique terrarium inspired by their own vision or creative concept perfect for your home or as a thoughtful gift for someone special.

All materials are included, including tools, aprons, gloves, vessels, soil, plants, and live moss.

$75 for members; $95 for nonmembers (includes full Garden admission).
Registration is required; class size is limited to 20 adults; classes are nonrefundable. Registration closes at 5 pm on the Thursday before class.

About the Instructors

Michael and Donna Kellison, founders of Hypnotic Aquatics, bring more than 20 years of combined experience designing and maintaining naturalistic aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Specializing in freshwater habitats, saltwater ecology, and bio-active terrariums, they are known for creating immersive “living art” using premium natural materials such as cork bark, mopani wood, and spider wood. Their work blends ecological science with artistic design, focusing on balanced, self-sustaining environments that support long-term plant and habitat health. Active members of the South Florida botanical community, Michael and Donna regularly collaborate with Mounts Botanical Garden and the West Palm Beach GreenMarket, sharing their expertise with hobbyists of all skill levels. In their workshops and master classes, they teach the advanced techniques, creative problem-solving, and sustainable design principles they’ve developed through years of building custom habitats for tropical plants, reptiles, and amphibians.
