The Pines

A Majestic Blend of Evergreens, Color and Art

This display garden gets its name from the tall slash pines which give way to a beautiful view across Lake Orth. A Florida native, slash pines are a major canopy tree for the pine forests of South Florida. This garden also provides access to the event field. Because of its rapid growth rate, slash pine is a valuable tree for reforestation projects and timber plantations throughout the southeastern United States.

Collection Highlights:

Slash Pine (Pinus elliottii var. elliottii)
Queen Crepe Myrtle (Lagerstroemia speciosa)
Art in the Garden: Bird in a Tree, by Gert Olsen. In the background are native scrub Silver Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens ‘Cinerea’)
